Gutter Cleaning Tips for Beginners

By Matt

If you are a beginner interested in finding out more information about gutter cleaning, then this article is dedicated to you my dear friend. First of all, you guys must be aware that cleaning those clogged gutters is not always quite easy. If you plan to do it after a serious rainstorm, you better don’t and wait a few days for the wind to dry up that debris that filled your gutter. You must be aware that there are certain complicated gutter systems which can quite easy get stuffed with debris like leaves and this is going to make the natural flow of water almost impossible. This is sooner or later going to cause potential damage to the roof and even structure damage to your house or the building that you are staying or working in. Think about gutter cleaning as a periodically necessary process that you are required to make in order to keep the price of your real estate at the same level and never let its value to decrease.

What is really important for a beginner to understand is that even common tools that every homeowner can easily find somewhere around the house can be used when performing the process of gutter cleaning. You are not required to invest thousands of dollars in tools or any kind of sophisticated equipment. I’ve done it myself several times using a ladder and a stick and I managed to do it without any problems. The key is to be able to think outside of the box a little bit and be more inventive and apply more creativity. So, basically the idea is that with the most elementary tools you can achieve success in gutter cleaning. Do you get it? Ladies and gentlemen, you have to properly understand one thing. Gutter cleaning schedules; this is something that must be periodically done; otherwise you have no chance to keep the water overflow naturally through the pipe. This way you are also going to keep the windows and siding clean and in a pretty good condition. There are several times of the year when doing gutter cleaning is simply compulsory and this is usually during the autumn, when leaves fall and of course during the spring, when everything is in blossom and buds from trees fall right into the gutter.

Statistics show that correctly cleaned gutter systems can dramatically increase the price of a home when it actually gets on the market for those that are interested to get it. One pretty easy method to approach gutter cleaning is by taking advantage of such devices as pressured water power to make debris go down totally out of the gutter. I really like this method because it basically causes no damage to the gutter system and also makes it possible to check if there are some leaks in your gutter. Be aware that debris can pile up and become too heavy in certain spots of the gutter. Use a shovel or a simple stick to get rid of all that debris. It is going to work without any problem. Clean it using the power pressure water pipe once again. I highly recommend that after you guys remove all the debris to check for any possible system leaks once again by running another stream of water through your entire gutter. Watch how the water goes from the top of the system to the bottom without any problems. If any issues appear, these must be repaired.

Gutter cleaning is also possible to take care of using certain wind powered devices and we have talked about this in our article entitled gutter cleaning tools. Even if most gutters get blocked because of the heavy and wet debris that accumulated there during the winter, autumn or spring, using a powerful blowing device can take care of it. I, however, would recommend using such devices only during summer, when dealing with dry debris and leaves. By using this kind of method you are going to make sure that most of the unwanted stuff that gathered in your gutter is simply going to be blown away and thus making the whole process much easier than the manual one.

Just try whatever works better for you and you are going to be fine, after all these are not advanced gutter cleaning techniques, these are for beginners only.
